Well made women's gi pants
These pants are good quality and comfortable. As a woman with curves (small waist and big backside), these pants are a welcome change from my old unisex/men's gi pants. Not only do they look better, but they are more comfortable because they are made to fit a woman's figure.
They are quite long, which is nice because they could be hemmed if needed for shorter people, and they would be long enough for taller people. I'm 5'10" and will probably hem them.
The closure includes a front zipper, Velcro, and a pull string with elastic waist. A button would be nicer than Velcro, but the Velcro is okay. Also, a pocket would be nice. Did you hear that century? Next time please include a pocket . . . :-)
About sizing, I'm tall (5'10"), 155 pounds, wear a size 12 or 14 in jeans and a size 4 in men's century gi pants and 5 in tigercloth gi pants. I ordered a medium in these, and they fit just right. (Probably could have worn a size large, but they might have been a little too big). Also I called century before I ordered to ask about sizing, and the customer service agent was very helpful.
Nervous about sizing
I love the idea of gi pants designed for women, but I am nervous about ordering because I'm unsure how they would fit, even after reviewing the size charts. I wish you would size them the same way other gi uniforms are sized (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.). As much as I would like to have gi pants designed for women, I may end up ordering the unisex pants, just because I know how they would fit.
Has anyone else bought these pants, and if so, what size did you order, and what size do you normally wear in unisex gi pants?
Women's elastic band pants
I like the style and fit. My one negative point is the Velcro comes undone constantly. Maybe a different type of closure, like a button or clip would hold better.
Should have tried these a long time ago
I love that they have a zipper and Velcro closure. I definitely felt like they were easier to pull up and down than other bottoms. The weight is exactly how I like my pants. Not too thick but not too thin. One thing I didn't particularly care for is that the inside of the waist band is elastic and not covered by fabric like most martial arts pants. Once I got sweaty, it did get a little uncomfortable, but not enough to deter me from wearing them. They have plenty of room in the legs (another issue I've encountered) and even a little to spare in the back. They were oober long when I got them. Just to give an idea of how long, I am 5'3" and could hold them up to my shoulders and they were to the tops of my feet. I wear an XL size in these pants. So I did have the extra price of having to have them hemmed. The bonus to this, was that I had enough fabric after hemming to have my tailor add a back pocket to them. As a school owner, I love having the back pocket at tournaments to put my phone or a couple of bucks in. Maybe Century could consider adding the back pocket...? Overall I really like the pants and will definitely be ordering a few more pairs. These are the first Century uniform product I've ever tried and I am extremely happy with them! Ladies, give them a try!
